Whether you love them or hate them, it’s undeniable that the Kardashian family have played a big role in establishing trends over the past decade.

Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie have started so many trends (some of them questionable, we have to admit) that it’s hard to keep track of them all.

If they aren’t commanding the runway, the sisters are front-and-centre, mingling with the world’s most renowned designers during Fashion Week. And, with their own fashion and make-up lines dominating the fashion stakes it seems there is no stopping them.

Here, we take a look at some of the biggest Kardashion trends over the last 10 years.

Contouring!

Every girl has sampled contouring, right? Thanks to the Kardashian sisters, this trend has been taking the make-up world by storm over recent years. After Kim posted some before and after shots of her contoured face back in 2012, everyone jumped on the bandwagon trying to create razor-sharp cheekbones with a stroke of a brush. Kim’s effortlessly flawless make-up kicked off a worldwide social media trend culminating in thousands of contouring video tutorials showing the public how to achieve the much-sought after look … including even one from Kim herself. Make-up companies even got on board, creating kits especially for contouring.

Athleisure!

While tracksuits existed long before the Kardashians, it was the reality family who reinvented the look with a modern day twist. Well, it may really be Kanye West (a Kardashian by marriage) who we have to thank after his Yeezy line made sporty clothing fashionable. This is the trend which makes it acceptable to wear your comfy gym wear all day … even if you’re not going to work out. And, yes you can even don your casual comfies with heels like the Kardashian sisters often do. Tracksuit pants with lace-up heeled boots is a favourite of theirs.

Duster coats!

The Kardashians, Kim in particular, has turned the longline duster coat into a wardrobe staple. Kim’s affinity for floor-skimming coats began around 2014 when she was pregnant with her second child Saint. You’ll normally see the reality star with the coat balanced on her shoulders if matched with denim during the day, or worn over a glamorous ensemble and teamed with barely there strappy sandals at night.

Smokey eye!

Most girls would be lying if they said they hadn’t googled how to create the perfect smokey eye, just like Kim Kardashian. Similar to contouring, millions of ‘smokey eye how to’ videos have been posted online since the reality star introduced the sultry eye look. The trend of grey and black blended with lots of shading in the eye creases and, most importantly, lots and lots of mascara has been a worldwide trend. Thousands of make-up brands have even created kits dedicated to perfecting the smouldering look.

Double denim!

For many years double denim was seen as a fashion fail. Even Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake failed to pull the look off with their matching denim outfits back in 2006. But, it seems the Kardashians have turned this myth on its head. Started by Kim around 2013, with her sisters quickly following suit: denim-on-denim is no longer a fashion faux pas. Kendall has really ran with this trend in 2017, regularly being spotted with oversized denim jackets, paired with matching skinny denim trousers and finished off with high-heeled boots. Are you brave enough to try it out?

Oversized top and thigh-high boots!

The Kardashian sisters are big fans of comfort mixed with glamour. With the youngest of the sisters, Kylie and Kendall, regularly sporting slouchy, oversized tops with thigh-high boots. The Jenner sisters are often spotted out in graphic tees, XXL sweatshirts or white button down shirts — and they aren’t the only ones with Kim, Khloe and Kourtney hot on their heels. And, did you know there’s even a name for this trend … Lampshading! Other celebs have quickly caught on to this trend with Kate Moss, Rita Ora and Rihanna also being spotted in this chic look.
